The vision of our Kalakendra is to release the Divyang from the shackles of dependence on others. Their efforts and dreams would be futile unless they became capable of being in charge of themselves. The availability of enough job opportunities for such students is a farfetched idea that makes us focus on training them to establish their own trade or business.
Our curriculum involves teaching them cottage industry trades like making paper bags, imitation jewellery, toys, pouches, wallets, handicrafts, and candle-stands. The best part is that these exercises help us elicit the artistic aptitude of our students and give them confidence and joy at the same time. Built in 2013, this centre owes its existence to the Kalpana Dilip Mehta Foundation.
