Being the first of its kind, this school became the trailblazer for English medium schools in the district in 1984. The founder of Gembel NV, Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust, and the Lilawati Hospital in Mumbai, Shri Kirtilal Manilal Mehta paid a loving tribute to his mother by helping Vidyamandir build a school in her honour. Shri Kirtilal Manilal Mehta, who won billions of hearts with his philanthropy, lost his father at the tender age of 12 and left his hometown, Palanpur, to support his family business in Burma (Yangon). He offered a large property, which came to be known as the Parnakutir Campus of Vidyamandir, for this school.
Later, to prop newer developments made in the school curriculum, the 3-5 grades were shifted to our Shri A .D. Lohani Campus in the Sarhad Gandhi Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan Bhavan, which owes its existence to Shri Kantilal Chandulal Kothari and his family's gracious charity.
Not unlike its Gujarati medium counterpart, this institution strongly refutes the old 'Chalk n Talk' method and believes in keeping up with the times, which is why it has smart interactive resource rooms for each subject and laboratories for Mathematics, Computer, and Spoken English. Besides a burden-free education system, it also offers a variety of hobby clubs to the students to help them nurture their interests. Social and cultural development of the students is the prime priority of the school.
It has 379 students and a staff of 16.
The school hours are 07:10 a.m. to 01:10 p.m. from Monday to Friday, and 10:50 a.m. to 04:55 p.m. on Saturdays.
Parents are welcome to meet the teachers and the Principal on the second Saturday of every month to observe their child's progress.
