Vidyamandir Trust, Palanpur managed Shri P. K. Mehta College of Special Education and Diploma College of Special Education (Intellectual Disabilities) has organized online ‘World Braille Day-2021’ programmes on 4th and 5th January, 2021 as celebration of Louise Braille’s birth anniversary on YouTube and Facebook. The purpose of these programmes was to create positive attitude towards blind persons in the society and to aware about our institution’s functions.The chief guest of this programme was Shri Haresh Chaudhary, EC Member of Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan.
On the first day, all the personalities with disabilities have shared their life experiences Shri Laherchandbhai Mehta(Special Educator), Shri Bhupendrabhai Tripathi(Manager, Reserve Bank of India, Ahmedabad), Shri Harish Varma(Govt. Gym Trainer, Ahmedabad and National/International Gold Medalist in Arm Wresting), Shri Ashish Mankad(Chairman, The Commercial Co-op. Bank, Junagadh), Dr. Victor John(Policy Maker) respectively.
While on the second day, experts have given their expertise on different topics Shri Yahya Sapatwala(Lecturer, District Institute of Education and Training, Vadodara - Role of Teacher as Friend, Philosopher and Guide), Shri Ranchhhodbhai Soni (IT Coordinator, Blind People Association, Ahmedabad - Application of Latest Technology and Software for Blind Persons), Shri Natubhai Patel (Special Educator, Smt. M. K. Mehta School for the Blind, Palanpur - Understanding the history of Braille). Special and general educators, B.Ed. and Special B.Ed. Trainees, Principals, Professors and those individuals who have curiosity to know about persons with visual impairment have also joined this programme and given it to get success.
Smt. M. K. Mehta Visually divyaang School also organized online competitions such as music, Eloquence on the occasion of the 212th birth anniversary of Louis Braille.
