International Drug Abuse Day is celebrated on 26 June 2018, Tuesday in D.D.Choksi College of Secondary Education and S.P.Kothari English medium B.Ed. College to achieve the goal of a society free of drug abuse. Observance of this day aims to raise awareness to fight against the substance abuse as well as the unlawful trade of drugs. On this day students of both the colleges expressed their thoughts through speech and dramatization.
Different videos were also shown conveying the message that Drug abuse is one of the most serious health problems. Besides that, it has several side effects in the form of economic loss, antisocial behaviour such as stealing, violence and crime besides social stigma and overall downfall of the society.
Dr. Bharat Mali and Dr. Jayna Joshi expressed their views on eradication of drug abuse. An informative and effective PPT was shown by Dr. Neelu Ghosh, Principal, D.D.Choksi College of Secondary Education. She explained functioning of brain and how drugs affect the dopamine level and the body. She also explained the ways to fight against drug abuse.
The program ended with the promise given by the Student-Teachers to convey thedangers of drug abuse and alcoholism among the students and the society.
