Palanpur is known as the city of fragrance. Its distinguished natives are spread over almost all the advanced countries of the world. Such an elite international community naturally must acquire the best communicative skill in English Language. Since Palanpur was the headquarter of Banaskantha district, many from different states kept coming in the Government offices and one common language - a lingua franca was necessary for their children to be educated. These and many other reasons inspired our Hon. Trustees to accept the challenges of opening an English Medium School in Palanpur. To this edge came forth the welcomed donation of Shri Kirtilal Manilal Mehta, an eminent businessman of international repute, in memory of his beloved mother Smt. Menaben Manilal Mehta in 1984 and the school is baptized in her name.
It grew up to a full-fledged school and in 1994 the first batch of SSC students were sent to the Board. The tradition of getting 100% result is kept up with very good individual performances, except a few years.
The aim of the school is to provide boys and girls a formative and liberal education in English Medium. True education pays keen attention to all the human aspects, moral, intellectual, social and physical. The pupils are trained to develop their grasping power to acquire a sufficient degree of knowledge, self confidence, efficiency, steadiness of character, habits of industry and trustworthiness in life. Refinement of manners, habits of obedience and order, neatness in person and dress and above all, punctuality are required at all times.
Smt. M.M. Mehta English Medium Secondary School is located at Shri A. D. Lohani Campus, Vidyamandir, Palanpur. It has 170 students and a staff of 8.
