Though Vidyamandir is an Educational Institute and its main focus is on providing the best education to the society, the Trust has always taken a lead in initiating programmes that benefit the local community. These centres or activities are not limited for the students or their parents of Vidyamandir but they are open for the society at large.
Some of them are:
Shree Kanubhai Mehta Vidya Vikas Kendra:
This is a centre that runs a rural education programme with Sunday Classes, Mobile Laboratory, Mobile Library, Science fair, Gujarati Language Enhancement programmes/competitions. It was established with the generous donation received from the friends and relatives of Late Shri Kanubhai Mehta towards ‘Shri Kanubhai Mehta Smarak Fund’ in the year 1994. Bright students from the schools surrounding Palanpur are chosen through an on line test and they are taught by the expert teachers of Vidyamandir Trust at the Sunday Classes. A mobile laboratory and library visits these schools as per a fixed schedule and various experiments are demonstrated by our science teacher in front of these students whose schools do not have the facilities of a laboratory. The van also carries various books which are issued to the students for several days. The centre organizes a ‘Children’s Fair’ every year on the death anniversary of Shri Kanubhai Mehta in which the students from these schools participate in a number of activities and competitions. It also conducts an examination named – Gujarati Pratibha Shodh Spardha i.e. Gujarati Talent Search Examination at district level every year. Programmes of teachers’ training are also organized occasionally.
